So mum brought in these herbs this morning; a pot of rosemary, parsley, and basil. Not that we're big fans of pasta nor do we use these herbs that often, it's just that just recently, I've decided that I wanna get myself into planting and growing herbs.
In retrospect, I've bought over thirteen pots of these for the past six months and yes, all of them died - either due to negligence, or lack of the so called "green thumb." I guess I was just never really good at this. I was good at planting seeds 'cause all you need to do was dig and put a couple of seeds in. Now I want myself to learn more and kind of tend my understanding of patience to a whole new level. I know, deep shit.
If you think about it, planting seeds is like having a dream. You have to give it the right amount of sun, water and love and along the months, years or even decades, you have to look at it and give it what it needs for it to grow. In return, it may give you food, a five dollar savings from your weekly grocery list, or make your house look even better.
These three plant will put me to a whole new test along with my plans of visiting the Philippines next year, to moving to Melbourne, to applying for uni, and getting my life sorted.
Hopefully, eventually I'll update you more if these guys here are going to get through life a lot more likely now that I've decided to focus a bit of my attention on them.
my partner and i have been planning to plan our own herb garden but that hasn't occurred until now.
ReplyDeleteNourish the plants and the dreams. Sayang naman diba? :)
ReplyDeletetry martha stewarts's pan-roasted rosemary potatoes. it's easy and full of flavor: http://www.marthastewart.com/313290/pan-roasted-rosemary-potatoes
ReplyDeleteWater it twice a day. in the early morning at late afternoon. by looking at size of the pots, just put half a cup of water in it. overwatering will kill the plants.
ReplyDeletedon't put it on direct sunlight, put it near a window or something.
This reminded me of Sarah Mclachlan's song, "Ordinary Miracle." ^__^
ReplyDeleteI love your comparison between planting seeds and having a dream! You may not have a green thumb but you have great dreams ahead of you.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up to you!
Pointless Paranoia.
@ eon - its fun. i've thought, before me and aaron would even start adopting a dog one day or even having the thought of being parents someday, its good to have plants to practice with.
ReplyDelete@ nyl - true. nomo waste baby. it's been looking good..so far. now that i have it next to our kitchen's window- i get to see it everyday and see if any of 'em are dying.
@aaron - aaron does that a lot. and yes, its easy and i love em.
@ puzzie - thank you. youre a god! i've already put them near the window and watered them. thinking of watering them every other day?
@ cosmic glitch - ill go and listen.
@ jay - cause its sooo true. cheers!
p.s. @ Puzzie - can i make them grow in these pots forever? like bonsais?
ReplyDeletethey're herbs, Herbs. they are not suited for bonsai training.
ReplyDeleteyou can keep them in those pots for a long time BUT you have to trim them at least twice a month. like cut some fresh spouts of leaves - 4 to 6 leaves.
yes, you can water them every other day JUST make sure they're not in direct sunlight.
4 to 6 leaves, is that how i should cut them every 2 weeks or 6 leaves for the whole month?
ReplyDeleteIf you keep the dream alive you will grow this plants like no other..
ReplyDeleteGoodluck dude.
